Pre-Operative Testing

A registered nurse from our Pre-Admission Testing/Ambulatory Surgery department will contact you as early as two weeks before your scheduled surgery. The nurse will ask questions about your health history and may arrange an appointment for your pre-operative testing. The nurse also will give you necessary information and answer any questions. Please have a current medication list available to give to the nurse.

Your surgeon may order blood or urine tests, x-rays, an electrocardiogram (ECG), or other tests. Your anesthesiologist may require additional testing, depending on your health history.

Depending on your insurance, testing may be performed at your attending physician's office or at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital.

The hospital's registration and diagnostic departments are open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday. A pre-admission nurse will contact you to make an appointment. For information about your testing appointment, call (708) 681-3200, ext 1191.

Testing usually lasts 30 to 60 minutes.

If you have any questions or have not received a call from the pre-admission testing department, please call (708) 450-4929 between 7 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
