Nuclear Medicine uses safe, painless techniques to take images of the body and treat disease. It differs from other Medical Imaging tests because it provides information about the function and structure of every major organ system in the body. It can also measure how much function is present in an organ, often eliminating the need for surgery.
One unique benefit of nuclear medicine is its role in the diagnosis, management, treatment and prevention of serious disease. It can identify abnormalities early on, which leads to early detection and treatment of disease. Click here to learn why someone would get a Nuclear Medicine procedure.
Nuclear Medicine procedures are among the safest Medical Imaging tests available. A patient will only receive a small amount of radioactive materials, equal to or less than that of a diagnostic x-ray. In fact, the amount of radiation received for the tests is the same as that acquired during a few months of normal living.
To make an appointment for a test, call the diagnostic testing scheduling office at (708) 450-4917.
