Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy services are provided to both inpatients, who are admitted to the hospital, and outpatients, who are seen 2 - 3 times per week in our outpatient department. Therapists most often treat patients one-on-one.

Inpatient Physical Therapy

Inpatients may require physical therapy for a number of reasons, often following surgery, injury or illness. One of the goals of therapy is to improve patients’ mobility, such as walking, stair climbing and getting in and out of bed. Other patients may be seen to improve muscle strength, reduce pain or to improve endurance.

The Inpatient Physical Therapy department is located on the fourth floor of the hospital building.

Outpatient Physical Therapy

Our outpatient facility is located on the first floor of the Rehab ServicesBuilding (next to the Center for Fitness). Patients with a variety of diagnoses are seen, including many orthopedic diagnoses:
  • following total joint surgery
  • rotator cuff injuries
  • ankle sprains
  • neck and back pain
  • shoulder injuries
  • other muscular or joint disorders

Patients with other diagnoses such as balance difficulties, peripheral neuropathy, lymphedema, post stroke, are also treated at our facility.

A group pool program is also available. This general conditioning program consists of two pool sessions and one land session.
