Gottlieb is now offering this high-tech heart scan at the very low price of $90 so people at risk in our community can afford to find out the state of their heart's health.
For an appointment, call (708) 450-4917. No physician's order is needed.
The test is recommended for men over 35 and women over 40 who have one or more of the following risk factors: family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking habit, diabetes, overweight or sedentary lifestyle.
The Gottlieb Heart Scan is totally non-invasive—no injections, dyes or needles. The entire process, called "cardiac scoring," takes about 30 minutes, with the CT scan itself lasting only about 20 seconds.
Calcium buildup detected in coronary arteries is given a "score" that falls into one of five risk categories, from "normal" to "extremely high." (The presence of calcium is a strong indication that artery-clogging plaque is also present.)
And results are immediate. Participants leave with a report to show their doctor, who can then take steps to prevent a heart attack if they are at high risk, or advise them how to maintain good heart health if their score is in the mid-range.
