Heart patients at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital will feel like they are on top of the world, thanks to a new cardiac unit opening this summer atop the sixth floor. Completely renovated from the sound-absorbing ceilings to the new simulated bamboo floors, the unit promotes rest and recovery in a luxury hotel-like environment.
Innovative touches combine leading-edge technology with artful interior design, such as a large nursing station at the entrance and a second nursing station in the middle to ensure increased time at bedside by the medical team. Loyola cardiac specialists available on the Gottlieb campus work with the cardiologists and specially trained medical staff to provide an integrated team approach to caring for even the most critical patients.
The 21 private patient rooms offer upscale amenities including private bathrooms with spa-like showers and convenient handwashing stations by the room entrance. The contemporary furniture converts to guest beds so loved ones can stay near.
Fresh cuisine will be offered room-service style with meals served at a time selected by the patient. Housekeeping upon request means that each patient chooses when he or she would like the room cleaned.
The newly renovated unit offers more than just a lofty view of the western suburbs, it offers recovering heart patients and their families the supportive environment they need, so that when they are ready, they can continue their recovery in the comfort of their own home.
