MELROSE PARK, IL – On Thursday, September 14, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital will host a public lecture on diabetes, presented by Howard Einhorn, MD.
Dr. Einhorn has been an internal medicine physician at Gottlieb since 1979, specializing in the care of patients with diabetes.
According to the American Diabetes Association, about 30.3 million Americans have diabetes, though 7.2 million were not diagnosed. Diabetes is the seventh-leading cause of death in the U.S.
Dr. Einhorn will present an overview on the latest information regarding diabetes, with an emphasis on Type 2, including why it's so prevalent today, the role of diet and activity, treatment options and new medicines.
"Diabetes has become an epidemic problem and millions of people are pre-diabetic and don't know or understand what that means," Dr. Einhorn said. "The goal of this lecture is to help people better understand Type 2 diabetes so they can manage the condition or prevent it from ever developing."
The lecture will be held at noon in Gottlieb's Professional Office Building, 675 W. North Ave., Melrose Park, rooms E, F, G on the lower level.
A boxed lunch will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
This is the fifth installment of Gottlieb’s Hai Solomon Community Lecture Series. Dr. Solomon was a Gottlieb physician for 55 years.
