Dr. Shakir treats heart conditions ranging from chest pain to heart rhythm disorders and heart failure.
Dr. Shakir said he takes a holistic approach to treating patients. "You need to treat the whole person, not just the disease," he said. He added that as technology improves, he is able to offer patients more treatment options that are resulting in improved outcomes.
Dr. Shakir said his practice is guided by two fundamental principles – service and love.
"I strive to offer the most up-to-date treatment options and explain a complex disease in simple terms that my patients and their families can understand," he said. "I also try to treat all patients with compassion and love, as if they were my own family."
Dr. Shakir sees patients at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park and Presence St. Joseph Hospital, Chicago. Gottlieb is a member of Loyola Medicine and Loyola has an affiliation with Presence.
Dr. Shakir is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology. He is an assistant professor in the division of cardiology of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
