MELROSE PARK, Ill. – (January 18, 2015) – Ready to up your game with new fitness challenges? Join the Gottlieb Obstacle Course Training Team to improve stamina, mobility, strength, power and mental toughness.
"The training course is to prepare people for events like the Tough Mudder or other challenging obstacle competitions, but fitness enthusiasts at all levels are welcome, said Gloria Murray, director, Gottlieb Center for Fitness (GCFF) in Melrose Park. "Whether you want to get an edge for an upcoming fitness challenge or improve your health for a personal best, this class offers the perfect opportunity."
The Tough Mudder is a series of 10- to 12-mile mud obstacle courses conducted all over the world and designed by the British Special Forces.
Led by John Hayley, certified strength and conditioning specialist and Spartan Group X coach, the 12-week course meets 5:30-6:30 am Tuesdays and 7-8 pm Thursdays, Feb. 9 – April 30, 2015. Cost is $300 for non-members and $240 for members.
Obstacle courses are the latest trend in the extreme fitness world and challenge not just the body but the mind.
"The obstacle races are unpredictable and the classes will be as well. We will take racing to a whole new level and will develop true total fitness," Hayley said. "If you are ready to compete in an arena that is not about who is the fastest or the strongest, but rather who is the toughest, this class is for you."
Hayley has competed in endurance and obstacle races including Spartan Race Ultra Beast, Wild Wild West Marathon, Men’s Health Urbanathlon, the Ultra Marathon Ragnar Relay Race and the Chicago Marathon.
